The police arrested the rapist named Abu Bakkar (48) by breaking the door of the apartment.
He was arrested in an empty apartment in a residential building around 12:15 p.m. Monday. Abu Bakkar works as a janitor in that residential building.
The businessman Jahangir, owner of the building, hid it in a floor of his house when he felt the arrival of the police. Jahangir, the owner of the house, is said to have run away after the incident.
The victim’s father alleged that even though the rape incident took place on October 5, he was delaying with the guarantee of a settlement.
He said he works in a decoration store. One of his daughters is 12 years old and the other 14/15. Employed two girls in local hosiery. He beat his youngest daughter for not going to work regularly and his two daughters were walking around the area on October 5 for fear of not coming home at night.
While wandering in front of Jahangir’s house, the house keeper, Abu Bakkar, asked the two girls the reason for the wandering, lured her into the house and raped her. Many nights when they come home, the girls open the next day.
When he went to the Siddhirganj Police Station that night, the police officers told him to come the next day as there was no senior officer at the station. Later, when the matter came to light, Monir, the son of a local Rahim member, informed Jahangir about the matter and pressured him to resolve it.
But at one stage in Talbahana on Monday, youth in the area found out about the matter and reported it to the police and went to arrest Abu Bakkar. Jahangir, the owner, hid his caretaker Abu Bakkar in an empty four-story apartment. After much searching, the police found him, knocked down the door to the apartment, arrested Abu Bakkar and took him to the police station. At that moment, realizing the opportunity, owner Jahangir also ran away.
Siddhirganj Police Station OC Omar Farooq confirmed the arrest and said: “After preliminary questioning, we will learn about the whole incident.”
