A case has been brought against Abdul Khaleq Sarkar, president of Union Parishad (UP), for allegedly raping a returning woman in Birganj, Dinajpur. The rape victim filed a rape case against UP President Abdul Khaleq Sarkar at Birganj police station on Wednesday morning.
Abdul Khaleq Sarkar is the president of Nizpara Union Parishad No. 7 of Birganj Upazila and son of the late Taslim Uddin from the Syedpur (Kalyani) area of the upazila.
According to the statement in the case, President Abdul Khaleq Sarkar called Union Parishad on the occasion of Eid 2015 while staying at his father’s home after divorcing her first husband. According to him, when he went to the Union Parishad, the president took the woman to an old building and raped her. After the rape, he threatened not to speak of the incident abroad and if he told anyone, he would kill all members of his family and hide the body, the president said. Thus, from 2015 to 2017, the woman was taken to different places and raped showing ‘temptation of marriage’ and the president kept video images. The woman later moved to Saudi Arabia for work. While abroad, President Abdul Khaleq Sarkar used to make sexually provocative comments in various ways through social media. The woman recently returned home from Saudi Arabia two years later when her parents married a man from the same upazila. Upon hearing the news of her return to the country and her marriage to another man, President Khaleq Sarkar threatened the woman on her mobile phone. He later asked to return the videos. According to him, he took her to the home of Abdur Rashid, son of the late Delwar Hossain, next to the president’s brick camp in Nokhapara of the upazila on Tuesday, December 22, around 2 p.m. and recorded the rape and video on his phone mobile. At that moment, the woman desperately tried to open the memory of her mobile phone and when she screamed, the president fled the scene. When the family was later informed of the matter, the relatives advised him to file a case and he closed the case.
Nijpara Union Parishad President Abdul Khaleq Sarkar denied the allegations, saying: “I have been elected President twice in a row as an independent candidate. So a vicious cycle of revenge has long been conspiring to humiliate me socially. It is part of that. conspiracy “.
SI Nazmul Islam, the investigating officer in the case, said that a police operation has been launched to investigate the case and arrest the accused. The accused will be subject to the law in a short time.
Meanwhile, a human chain was carried out under the banner of Birganj residents in the Vijay Chattar area of the municipal city on Tuesday afternoon demanding justice for the Khaleq government.
