Jamalpur: Husband Rashed Miah (30) has been accused of raping his wife with a friend in Bakshiganj of Jamalpur because she did not accept prostitution.
Police arrested her husband Rashed Mia at their home on Friday morning (October 9) after a case was filed against her and two other people at the Bakshiganj Police Station.
However, his friend Mosharraf Hossain remains at large.
Rashed Mia is the son of Mandal Mia from the village of Binoder in Bakshiganj upazila and Mosharraf Mia is the son of Nehal Mia from the nearby village of Paglapara.
According to the Bakshiganj Police Station case, Rashed has been pressuring his wife into prostitution for a long time out of greed for money. Rashed also physically abused his wife for disagreeing. Rashed brought in his friend Mosharraf as a client last Wednesday night. But the housewife did not agree and Musharraf raped her. Later, Rashed also refused to file a complaint with the police.
The investigating officer in the case, Bakshiganj (SI) Police Deputy Inspector Akikul Hossain, told banglanews that after the incident, the housewife went to her father’s house and told her fiance about the incident. He then filed a complaint with the police. The case was registered as soon as the complaint was filed. Later in the morning, Rashed Mia was arrested at his home. An attempt is being made to arrest another defendant, Mosharraf Hossain.
Bakshiganj Police Officer in Charge (CO), Shafiqul Islam Samrat, told banglanews that the defendant was arrested on the basis of the case and sent to Jamalpur court and that the housewife was sent to Jamalpur Medical College for a medical exam.
