Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Devdas Chandra Adhikari approved the order after a hearing on Sunday.
Two defendants Monowar Hossain alias Sajal (43) and Mashnu Ara Begum alias Shilpi (40) were brought before the court on the same day and in preventive detention for seven days.
The defendant’s lawyers requested bail seeking the cancellation of the preventive detention. The state objected.
Monwar Hossain Sajal arrested for raping a housewife.
After the hearing, the court sent each defendant for two days and allowed questioning, said Azad Rahman, a deputy prosecutor.
A man from Satkhira was admitted to the Suhrawardy Hospital medical department on September 15 with various physical complications, including anemia. He was accompanied by his wife. This is the first time they have come to Dhaka for treatment.
On the doctor’s advice, the woman went to the blood bank on the second floor of the hospital to collect blood for her husband on the same day. When she saw 3-4 people in front of the blood bank and informed them about the need for blood, she promised to collect only one of them.
It has been alleged in the case that Sajal took the woman to Mashnuara Begum Shilpi’s home in Mirpur’s Madhyamanipur Para the following day for the purpose of collecting blood.
RAB-2 Deputy Superintendent of Police Zahid Ahsan said Sajal had threatened to kill the woman if she revealed the rape. That is why he was silent in the hospital.
“Last Thursday night, Sajal called the woman’s cell phone again and her husband caught her. Sajal then informed him that blood had been collected. When the man picked up the phone and asked his wife to bring him blood, she told the whole story to her husband. “
After the woman and her husband reported the entire incident in writing, the RAB investigated and found the truth and arrested the two on Friday night, Deputy Police Superintendent Zahid said.
He said Sajal was unemployed and had lost money investing in the stock market. They have their own home in Shewrapara, Mirpur. His mother has been admitted to Suhrawardy Hospital since September 10.
The RAB official said Sajal had to stay in the hospital because of his mother. He lives alone in his home in the center of Manipur, Mirpur. There he rented a room by the hour for money.
