Rangpur District BCL President Mehedi Hasan Siddiqui Rony was fired for allegedly raping a schoolgirl. Instead, Sumon Sarkar has been given the responsibility of interim president. The announcement was made in a circular signed by BCL central chairman Al Nahyan Khan Joy and secretary general, writer Bhattacharya.
It can be mentioned that the daughter of a heroic freedom fighter from Keranipara mahalla of Rangpur city taught in a government primary school. On September 5, he filed a written complaint with the Kotwali Police Station stating that in 2016 he met with the chairman of the Rangpur District Chhatra League, Mehedi Hasan Siddiqui Rony. Rony’s house is in Bajitpur village in Fatehpur in Pirganj upazila of Rangpur. His father’s name was Abu Bakkar. After the performance, a love story developed between them. According to the girl, Ronnie took her to different places in the country, including Dhaka and Cox’s Bazar, and raped her. He also claimed that he had taken Tk 18 lakh to work at different times.
In the statement, she further said that Ronnie started procrastinating when she talked about getting married. Later, under pressure from his friends and family, he brought the girl to Nilphamari on April 17, 2019 to get married. There he was taken to the home of the Nilphamari District BCL President Sajal Kumar and a mock drama was staged for him. Then Ronnie also raped her in that house.
The plaintiff alleged that after the marriage, when asked to take her to Ronnie’s father’s house, he procrastinated again. In the meantime, Ronnie said, as he has been president of the Chhatra League for six years, it may not be possible to form the Chhatra League. That is why 20 lakh rupees are needed to get the post of general secretary of the district Juba League. Ronnie pressured her to raise the money. If he refuses to pay, the plaintiff is threatened in various ways. Ronnie arrived at her home in Keranipara on June 5 this year and raped her again after the plaintiff pressured her to formally marry him.
According to the teacher, Ronnie pressured her to leave. Threat, your hand is too long and the administration obeys you. On July 12, he was taken to Ronnie’s aunt’s home in the Ganeshpur Club area of Rangpur City, where no marriage was recorded and no cabinet letter was issued. He was later expelled from his aunt’s house by his accomplices.
Finally, the woman filed a case at the Kotwali Police Station of the Rangpur Metropolitan Police describing the entire incident. The plaintiff told this correspondent on Monday night (October 12) that it had been a long time since he had completed his medical examination, but the police had informed him that he had not yet received the report.
Furthermore, he alleged that the police were not arresting Ronnie even after a month since the complaint was filed. Instead, his paintings threaten him in various ways to drop the case. In this incident, he did a GDO at the police station. He immediately arrested Ronnie and demanded his safety.
When contacted, the Kotwali OC Abdur Rashid Police Station said that efforts were being made to arrest the accused.
The general secretary of the district Awami League, Rezaul Karim Raju, said that the letter to free Rony had arrived today from Dhaka. He has been free since October 10.
