Actor Rana Hamid’s funeral was held in the Bali village of Sar upazila in Netrokona. He died in a hospital in the capital’s Shyamoli district at 11:30 p.m. Saturday (May 9) after a long battle with stomach cancer and kidney problems. Relatives brought her body to her village home on Sunday. He was buried in the family cemetery after Janazah in his Bali village in Kailati Union after Johar.
The Minister of State for Social Welfare and the Secretary General of the Awami League of the Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru District together with the local leaders of the Awami League participated in the janaza.
Rana Hamid was a former assistant secretary of the central subcommittee of the Bangladesh Awami League. He was the DU leader of the anti-Ershad student movement. He was currently a member of the Film Censor Board. He became known for his work on multiple films in the 1990s.
In addition to acting in films, Rana Hamid was also a producer and director. He acted in about 10 movies. The images were from his own production company. He is survived by his wife and daughter.
