Railways have stopped selling water on trains

Dhaka: Bangladesh Railway has stopped selling its own brand of bottled water ‘Rail Pani’ on trains.

This information was given in the press release sent on Sunday (October 11).

He said that he recently signed an agreement with Shyamoli Food and Beverages through an open tender. Some media outlets have published fabricated and motivated reports on the subject without verifying the correct information.

In this regard, the Ministry of Railways said: ‘Shyamli drinking water, Shyamli food and beverage prepared water, BSTI and BUET certified bottled water are widely available in the market. The same water prepared in the same factory has only been renamed ‘, which means that the bottle used for the railway has been renamed as railway water only by changing the level instead of the Shyamoli name.

It is further said that although Shyamoli water has been sold in the market for a long time, no complaints against this water have been observed. With the commercialization of water for railways in the railway sector, these accusations appear to be motivated. In addition, samples have been sent to BSTI and BUET to test the water quality.

Initially, Bangladesh Railway was briefed on the media response to the commercialization and has stopped selling this water for the time being. Remarketing arrangements will be made after obtaining BSTI and BUET exam certificates.
