Raihan was making arrangements to go to the United States. The mother herself was an entrepreneur and kept in touch with one of her uncles who lived there. Uncle sent sponsorship. After making other applicable documents and standing in the embassy, the boy came to light on his wife’s lap. As a result, he had to wait for his wife’s visa next November. However, before getting the visa, SI Akbar suddenly stood in front of him like he was a messenger. Raihan wanted to be released even after paying the 10,000 rupees demanded for his beating. Dad called, dad wanted to bring money. But, Akbar did not give time. Raihan’s frozen body was found in the hospital by his parents.
All the dreams of the family of Raihan Uddin, who died in police torture in Sylhet, have now been shattered. The mother’s wish was to establish her son and stand out again in society. Wife Tani’s dream was to have a happy family with a two-month-old boy. Raihan was the only source of income for the family. After losing him, Tahmina Akhter Tinni (22), wife of the speechless Raihan, with her two-month-old daughter Alpha. Raihan’s older sister, Ruba Akhter, lives in London. There is no end to regret for not being able to see his brother at the last moment. Although he did not come to the country, he is protesting in London demanding justice for the murder of his brother. They demand appropriate punishment for the defendant SI Akbar Hossain and other associates.
Raihan’s mother, Salma Begum, said: “I have suffered so much with my children, that no one could understand without seeing.” Today all my dreams have been shattered by SI Akbar and his associates. Never in my life had I thought of such a result.
Salma Begum, the mother of the slain Raihan, spoke the words in unison with regret.
He made the remarks while visiting Raihans’ home in the Akhaliastha area on Thursday (October 15).
He said, I married my son in 2016. Although we had a small job, our family was very happy. Raihan was not lacking in love for his wife and mother. After receiving my monthly salary, the boy used to tell me to spend some money on these things. Since the family depended on the income of the only son, so I used to spend very little of their money. One of his uncles arranged for Raihan to be sent to America thinking about his future and hoping to improve a little in Onton’s family. He lives in America. We received all the documents from America last July. I quickly completed my son’s medical and other work due to debt. After collecting the fee from the United States Embassy, you were supposed to go to the embassy (synonymous with visa). But being late to collect this fee became a nightmare in my life.
“We don’t have much time for Raihan’s daughter to be born,” he said. In early November, Raihan was preparing to appear at the United States Embassy (to obtain a visa). We have all the necessary documents to obtain a visa. The application was a family process. But that dream of mine remained elusive. I had to lose the boy who made me human all my life. Again for no reason. The innocent boy yelled at the police that he was innocent, but he was not allowed to live. In this way, I want murderers to be hanged so that no other mother’s chest is empty.
“The police arrested my son for no reason and demanded money,” he said. We were also forced to release my son and we took the money. But in the meantime, they killed my son for only 10 lakhs. They are not human, they are animals in police costumes. They have become protectors and eaters. I will give you 10 lakh rupees now, return the innocent child to my breast.
Habibullah, Raihan’s stepfather, said: “Tears come to my eyes when I think of this brutal murder.” I urge the police to immediately punish those implicated in Raihan’s murder so that no more mothers are left empty-handed. He said it was a shame that SI Akbar, the mastermind behind Raihan’s murder, had also escaped from the police. I think the senior police officers gave him the opportunity to escape. Otherwise, he could have been arrested after the incident. If there were a common man involved in this incident without the police, it would have been seen what the police could have done.
Raihan’s father, Rafiqul Islam, is known to have worked as a BGB soldier. While Raihan was in his mother’s womb (6 months), his father died at the BGB camp while on duty. From then on, the history of the fighting in the Raihan family began. Raihan’s relatives extended a helping hand to the defenseless family for a long time. In 2015, with everyone’s cooperation, Raihan’s older sister, Ruba Akhter, married a London expat from Bishwanath. About a year and a half after the marriage, Ruba left her mother and younger brother Raihan and moved to London. Two years later, Raihan got married.
Raihan’s uncle, Amena Begum Mina, said that people couldn’t do the way Raihan was beaten to death. It is an inhumane act. Good family upbringing makes people inhumane and bad education makes people inhumane. The dream we had about him was shattered. The police broke up. A police officer named Akbar and his associates did this. He’s a planned incident police.
“My life is over,” said Tahmina Akhter Tani, wife of the murdered Raihan. The family was very happy despite the shortage. But the police have ruined that happiness. At the same time, my daughter has been deprived of her father for life. My husband is an innocent man. The police first claimed that he was a kidnapper. They did inhumane things after wearing police uniforms. They are shameless and cheeky. I demand its execution.
Bandarbazar police arrested the young man named Raihan on Saturday afternoon (October 10). The police tortured him at the outpost that night and demanded money to release him. Raihan’s father received his son’s call from an unknown mobile phone in the morning. Raihan said money was required to release him after keeping him at the outpost. Raihan also took money to his father and asked him to rescue him. When his father went to the outpost with money in the morning to save his son, he was informed that Raihan was sleeping now and had to come around 10am. Later, around 10 a.m., he was told to go to Sylhet Osmani Medical College. There he learns that his son is dead. Then he saw horrible marks of torture on the dead boy’s body. Raihan’s nails were also pulled out. Later, the police claimed that Raihan was beaten to death by a mob on suspicion of kidnapping. However, no evidence of this was found in the images of the city corporation. His autopsy was completed at Sylhet Osmani Medical College on Sunday. Police handed over the body of the deceased to his family after an autopsy around 3 pm. His body was buried in the family cemetery after Janazah after Esha’s prayers. Raihan’s inhumane torture incident in police custody has been debated in the media since Sunday. Tahmina Akhter Tani, the wife of the deceased, brought a murder case to the Sylhet Kotwali Police Station. Once the case was archived, the investigation was handed over to the Police Investigations Directorate (PBI).
