The Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has claimed that the murder of four members of the same family has been revealed in Kalaroa, Satkhira. Shahinur Rahman’s brother Raihanul committed the murder only due to family conflict.
The IADC’s Khidna Additional Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Omar Farooq, made the demand at a press conference in his office around 4:30 pm Wednesday. He said: “The arrested Raihanul has been sent to court to give a statement under section 164. That is why it could not be produced.
Additional DIG Omar Farooq told a packed press conference: “Raihanul himself killed his brother Shahinur, his sister-in-law Sabina Khatun and their two sons Mahi and Tasnim Sultana with a sharp knife.” Earlier, you bought sleeping pills and energy drinks from the market.
On October 14, around 8 pm, Raihanul had two boys and Bhabhi drink a mixture of drugs. Later, when his brother Shahinur returned home from the fish farm around 1.30pm, they gave him an energy drink mixed with sleeping pills.
Citing Raihanul’s confession, the additional DIG further stated, “Raihanul himself climbed up the roof ledge of the house and entered the house and first killed his brother Shahinur while he was sleeping.” Then he cut the ribs off his hand and tied the rope around his legs. He then strangled Bhabhi Sabina in the next room. When the children woke up to his screaming, he strangled them in the same way.
Raihanul told the CID that the devil was upon him. So, despite his reluctance, he killed the two children. After killing him empty-handed, he threw blood-stained towels and toothpicks around the fish, ” the DIG added.
In response to the motive for the murder, the CID official quoted Raihanul as saying that Raihanul was an unemployed man. His wife left him 9-10 months ago. From then on, he used to eat and drink in his brother’s family. Don’t do any work yourself and don’t pay the cost. For these reasons, he often had fights with his brothers and sisters. They abused him.
Citing Raihanul’s statement, the CID official further said that he had a discussion with Bhabi the same night on the day of the incident. Bhabi scolded him.
Describing the incident, the police officer said: “Raihanul was sitting at home watching television around 1.30 pm. At that time, his brother came from Shahinur’s house and scolded him. Then Raihanul said: ‘Calm the head. This time I will pay the electricity bill. Saying this, he also gave her an energy drink mixed with sleeping pills. Later, Shahinur also fell asleep. Later he killed them one by one. “
The CID official further said: “There was no one else with Raihanul at the time of the murder. He told the CID that he decided to kill just because of his brother-in-law’s fight. Raihanul, who is on remand, was sent to court to testify under section 164, he said.
