Sylhet: Raihan Uddin (30) died due to additional injuries. After the second autopsy on Thursday (October 15), the head of the forensic department of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, Dr. Shamsul Islam.
He said there were numerous signs of injuries on Raihan’s body. He was severely beaten. Therefore, the doctor believes that you may die from additional injuries. However, the details will be known after receiving the autopsy report.
After the second autopsy, Raihan’s body was buried in the cemetery adjacent to the Akhalia Nawabi Mosque in the afternoon.
Early Thursday morning, the Police Investigation Bureau (PBI) team recovered the body from the grave in the presence of the Mezbah Uddin District Administration Executive Magistrate Sajib Ahmed, PBI Investigation Officer Mahidul Islam and local councilor Makhlishur Rahman Kamran. The body was later taken to the morgue of Sylhet Osmani Medical College for autopsy.

Raihan Uddin was assassinated last Sunday (October 11). Police say Raihan was killed in a massive beating in a wooded area of the city on robbery charges. But the victim’s family and relatives allege that Raihan was killed by the police at the outpost. After his death, signs of injuries were found at various locations on Raihan’s body. His nails were also pulled out. After the incident, the victim’s wife filed a murder case at the Kotwali Police Station alleging that Raihan was tortured to death in police custody.
On Monday (October 12), four people, including the outpost in charge SI Akbar, were suspended and three others were removed on the recommendation of a three-member police investigation committee on the allegations. Other suspended police officers include Bandarbazar Outpost Officers Harunur Rashid, Touhid Mia and Titu Chandra Das. The retired police personnel are ASI Ashek Elahi, ASI Qutb Ali and Constable Sajib Hossain.
