An autopsy revealed that Raihan Uddin Ahmed, 33, died of his injuries at the Bandar Bazar outpost in Sylhet.
Raihan’s body was exhumed and subjected to a new autopsy on Thursday. Autopsy physician Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, head of the forensic department. Shamsul Islam said: ‘A three-member team has re-examined Raihan’s body. Initially, we said that he died due to additional injuries.
Before that, I completed the first autopsy on October 11. And today we sent the first autopsy report to the Kotwali police station, ‘the doctor added.
Meanwhile, there have been protests, rallies and human chains in Sylhet demanding the arrest of the killers. Raima’s mother, Salma Begum, delivered a memorandum to the deputy commissioner seeking justice for the murder of her son. He also questioned the escape of the accused.
Salma Begum said: ‘Myra is throwing my son away without any guilt. The defendant has been fired, how did he escape? Raihan had a two-month-old baby on her lap at the time.

This morning, Executive Magistrate Sajibur Rahman and Executive Magistrate. Raihan’s body was exhumed from the Akhalia Nawabi Mosque cemetery in Neharipara in the city in the presence of Mezbah Uddin. He was then taken to the morgue of the Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College for an autopsy under police surveillance.
Raihan Uddin Ahmed, 33, the son of the late Rafiqul Islam of Neharipara in the Akhalia area of Sylhet city, was tortured to death at the Bandar Bazar outpost on Saturday night, according to a police investigation. The family found his body the next day, Sunday morning. Later that night, Raihan’s wife became the plaintiff and filed a murder case charging unknown persons. The case is being investigated by the Police Investigation Office (PBI).
Relatives allege that Raihan was beaten to death while in police custody for not receiving Rs 10,000. Police claimed that Raihan was beaten to death during a robbery in a wooded area of the city’s 14th district. However, the councilor said no such thing was seen on CCTV footage from the area where the beating was reported.
After the incident, SI Akbar Hossain Bhuiyan, police officers Harunur Rashid, Touhid Mia and Titu Chandra Das were suspended on Monday. Additionally, Deputy Assistant Inspector (ASI) Ashek Elahi, ASI Qutb Ali and Agent Sajib Hossain were also removed.

Raihan’s death at the police station: Investigation Committee
Raihan Uddin Ahmed was tortured to death by the Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) at the Bandar Bazar Police Post under the Kotwali Police Station for three hours, 10 minutes and 40 seconds. Chief Information Commissioner (DC) Azbahar Ali Sheikh said the information came to light on the first day of the investigative committee formed by the SMP.
Raihan was arrested by members of the Bandar Bazar police post from the Kastghar area of the city at 2.37 pm on Saturday, said SMP Deputy Commissioner Azbahar Ali Sheikh. He said CCTV footage from the area was also found. There was no sign of a massive beating of Raihan. CCTV footage, the police and eyewitnesses and observation of the surrounding situation initially showed that Raihan was injured at the Bandar Bazar police post. Later he was admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
