RAB has raided two unlicensed television channels and a newspaper office in the capital. There are three organizations: the News 21 TV and AB channel and the weekly crime cycle. The RAB arrested two people in the operation Tuesday afternoon.
The detainees are Shahidul Islam and Amena Khatun.
Among them, Shahidul Islam is the owner of News 21 TV and Amena Khatun is the owner of Channel AB and the weekly magazine on criminal offenses. The News 21 TV office is in Magbazar and the AB Channel office and the weekly Apradh Chakra is Purana Paltan.
RAB-3 magistrate Palash Basu said that the accusations against the companies were imposed on the signs of television channels and newspapers for embezzling large sums of money in the name of giving jobs in the health department, technical department and of communication technology, Mugda General Hospital, BIWTA, Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics.
He said that when they advertised a real job in a government institution, they would pick up the advertisement and advertise it at their postal address. They have a brokerage network, through which they used to target unemployed youth. They have taken more than two and a half million rupees from a thousand people, but they were unable to provide any work. Magistrate Palash Basu said they had forged the seals of the undersecretary of the health department and the assistant secretary of the department of information and communications technology. Basically, they were recruiting on the platforms of an organization called the Bright Association Limited. But there is no Associate Limited. They used to carry out these fraudulent activities from the office of the criminal gang at the time and all the victims have made money transactions in this office. The defendants forged signature stamps.
In the Time Crime Cycle job advertisement signed by the two arrested individuals, they gave a recruitment notice of 560 people to be recruited in the Time Crime Cycle division districts and upazila cities across the country. But they have no office in the district-upazila division. This is basically misleading. They have taken a large amount of money from the unemployed youth of the department, district and upazila showing the notification of this job. They have taken four lakh rupees from someone, three lakh rupees from someone, or 2 lakh rupees from someone.
