Rafiqul was showing a snake game like every day. He was playing in the Rajshahi court area. Suddenly, the poisonous snake bit his hand. Soon after, he fell and died.
The incident occurred on Sunday (September 13). The victim was identified as Rafiqul Islam, 56, son of Ahmed Ali from Pirganj village in Sadar upazila of Natore.
According to local sources, Rafiqul Islam’s job was to play with poisonous snakes. Rafiqul went to the Rajshahi court area on Sunday (September 13) to watch a game with snakes. While showing the game, a poisonous snake suddenly bit him. However, Rafiqul paid no attention to him because his teeth were broken. He was returning home to the Pirganj area of Natore after the night.
When he reached the Tokia Dhalan area in Natore, the snake poisoning began on Rafiqul’s body. At one point he got sick. After hearing everything from the locals, they took him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for treatment. But the end was not saved. He died on the way. Later, the body was taken to his home. His burial was completed in the local cemetery at night.
According to the locals, Rafiqul was a Bedepalli resident in Savar, Dhaka. They came to live in the Pirganj area of Natore about 40 years ago. He made a living by catching snakes and playing games.
Mosharraf Hossain, a member of Local UP, confirmed the incident and said: “The death of a snake from a snake bite is very sad.”
