The trial for the murder began with plaintiff Barkatullah’s testimony in court on Monday. The retired BRAC worker from Kushtia came to testify and wept and demanded justice for the boy’s murder.

During questioning on Tuesday, a lawyer for the defendant told Barkat Ullah that Abrar was involved in Chhatra Shibir.

Abrar’s father did not respond.

Another lawyer said the case was closed blaming the BCL cadres for feeding the Shibir cadres and the plaintiff was surrounded by Shibir members at the time of filing the statement.

The plaintiff also said “no” in response to this.

A lawyer claimed that some Shibir activists took Abrar’s body from the Dhaka Medical College morgue and handed it over to the plaintiff’s brother-in-law, Abdul Quader.

The plaintiff said: “I don’t know them. I didn’t go to the morgue, I was out. “

Abrar’s father was also questioned about his accusation in the case of the two students who brought Abrar to Dhaka Medical College, but kept silent.

“You were surrounded by farm workers in such a way that you couldn’t ask anyone about the murder, even if you wanted to,” said one of the defendants’ lawyers.

Although Barkat Ullah denied this, he admitted that he did not want to know any information about the BUET VC or Proctor case.

A lawyer asked, “Do you know who called Abrar and who was in room number 2011?”

Barkat Ullah was silent at the time.

One lawyer said: “The BUET authorities have appointed a lawyer with the approval of the Ministry of Justice to avoid responsibility for Abrar’s murder. This incident occurred due to the negligence of BUET authorities. Since you (the plaintiff) were surrounded by members of the camp, you have unknowingly blamed the defendant for killing Abrar. “

Ehsanul Haque Samaji, a lawyer appointed by BUET, objected to the defendant’s lawyer’s question.

This led to a heated discussion between state attorney Ehsanul Haque Samaji, Abu Abdullah Bhuiyan and defendant Farooq Ahmed’s attorney, Manzur Alam Manju and Shahidul Islam. Later the situation calmed down with the intervention of the judge.

Defendant Amit Saha’s lawyer, Manju, refused to question the plaintiff. He said that Amit’s name was not on the statement, and the plaintiff said nothing in his statement linking Amit’s name to the incident.

Abrar’s father was questioned continuously from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. After a pause of one hour, the interrogation resumed at 2.30 p.m. and continued until 6.30 p.m.

Lawyer Shahidul Islam on behalf of the defendant Moniruzzaman Monir, defendants Matiul, Shamim Billah, Mizanur Rahman Mizan and Faruk Ahmed interrogated HM Mahmud Setu.

Among the defendants in the case, 22 have been arrested and are in jail. The trial of the case continues to show the other three as fugitives.
