If you want to meet the Secretary of Commerce. Zafar Uddin told Prothom Alo: “On the occasion of the Mujib Year, on the birthday of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, that is March 17, we would like to inaugurate the DITF at the new International Exhibition Center in Purbachal. Preliminary decisions have already been made. A summary in this regard will be sent to the Prime Minister’s Office. With permission, a final decision will be made on the event.

It is known that 39 acres of vacant land at the former Tejgaon Airport was initially earmarked in 2009 to be converted into a permanent international exhibition center. Later, the project moved to the suburb of Purbachal due to lack of space there. Construction of the exhibition center began in October 2016 on 20 acres of land. The Chinese government is providing a grant of Tk 625.60 crore for the implementation of the project. The government has given 160 crore 13 lakh rupees for the land. The exhibition center has been built by a Chinese company.

The distance from this exhibition center in Purbachal to Kuril Biswaroad from the capital is about 15 kilometers. The exhibition center has 600 booths under two separate 269,000-square-foot exhibition halls under a spectacular wavy roof. The fully air-conditioned exhibition hall has conference rooms, large dining rooms and children’s play areas.
