Detective police have filed a final report in court calling for the release of journalist Imran Hossain Sumon and two other people in a case brought under the Digital Safety and Pornography Control Act. Nasirul presented the report. Another defendant acquitted is Chanchal Palma, receptionist at the Fuang Club. Mohammad Selim, general registration officer for the Pallabi Police Station, confirmed the matter on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the final report was filed in Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Dhiman Chand Mandal’s court on December 29. The case is scheduled for January 25.

In the final investigation report, the investigator in the case mentioned that the defendant Imran Hossain Sumon and the plaintiff Akhi Bhadra worked for the same company. In that sense, they had a very good relationship. But Akhi Bhadra’s husband made abusive and obscene messages on Facebook from various unknown Facebook IDs with the intention of creating a controversy over the matter. As a result, Akhi Bhadra shelved the case by falling into the trap of the unknown insidious mahal. In fact, there was no evidence that the defendant Imran Hossain Sumon and the receptionist Chanchal Palma of Tejgaon Phuang Club conspired with each other to spread obscene comments and offensive images on behalf of Akhi Bhadra using a fake Facebook ID. Therefore, the defendants Imran Hossain Sumon and Chanchal Palma were asked to be released from the case.

On July 26, his lawyer applied for bail in Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate’s (virtual) court Morshed Al Mamun Bhuiyan. After the hearing, the judge granted him a bond of 5,000 Tk. Previously, DB’s Serious Crimes Investigation Department arrested Sumon from the Hatirjheel area on the night of July 19. Then, on July 20, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Atiqul Islam granted him a day of pretrial detention. On July 12, Akhi Bhadra filed a case under the Pornography and Digital Safety Act.

The case alleges that on May 23, 2020, the presenter sent offensive SMS from her husband’s Facebook Messenger from various identifications, which made her husband feel bad. At one point, her husband shared things. Later, the presenter filed a general diary at the Mirpur Model Police Station. But even after making the diary, the unidentified defendants used WhatsApp to send various SMS and offensive images to their husband, brother-in-law and mother on their behalf.
