The government has released the list of holidays for 2021 after cabinet approval. The list was released by the Ministry of Public Administration on Wednesday. Next year there will be a 22-day holiday combining general and executive orders. Of these, seven days fall on the weekly holidays Friday and Saturday. Previously, the list was approved at a cabinet meeting on Monday.

General holidays: February 21 Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day, March 18 Birthday of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, March 26 Independence and National Day, May 1 (May 1), May Jumatul Bida, May 14 Eid-ul-Fitr, May 26 Buddhapurnima (Baishakhi Purnima), July 21 Eid-ul-Azha, August 15 Day of National Mourning, August 30 Janmashtami, October 15 Durga Puja ( Vijaya Dashami), October 19 Eid Miladunnabi (sa), December 16 Victory Day and December 25 Birthday of Jesus Christ (Christmas).

Leave in executive order: March 29 Shabebarat, April 14 Bengali New Year, May 10 Shabekdar, May 13 and 15 before and after Eid-ul-Fitr, July 20 and 22 before and after Eid-ul-Azha and August 29 Ashura will be holidays by executive order.

Optional license: Muslim episodes include Shabe Meraj on March 12, the third day of Eid-ul-Fitr on May 16, the third day of Eid-ul-Azhar on July 23, the Somba of Akheri Chahar on October 8, and Fateha -i-Yazdaham on November 16.

Optional Hindu festival festivities include Saraswati Puja on February 16, Shivaratri Vrata on March 21, Dolayatra on March 26, Advent of Harichand Thakur on April 9, Mahalaya on October 8, Durga Puja (Ninth) on April 14. October, Lakshmi Puja on October 20 and Shyam Puja on November 4.

Optional holidays (Buddhist festivals) include Maghi Purnima on January 26, Chaitrasankranti on April 13, Ashari Purnima on July 23, Madhu Purnima on September 20, and Pravarana Purnima (Ashwini Purnima) on October 20.

Apart from this, there are optional holidays for employees belonging to small ethnic groups in and around CHT: April 12 and 15 are similar social festivals of Vaisabi and other small ethnic groups in CHT.

The leave order states that an employee may be allowed a maximum of three days of optional leave per year based on their religion. Each employee must obtain the prior approval of the appropriate authority to enjoy three days of optional leave prescribed by his religion at the beginning of the year. General license, executive order can afford to enjoy optional license along with public license and weekly license.

In the case of offices whose hours and permits are regulated by their own laws or whose jobs have been declared essential by the government, the interested offices, agencies and institutions will exercise said permission in accordance with their own rules and regulations.
