Experts say that it would not be correct to take the admission test in the country’s public universities using the software ‘Proctured Remote Examination System’. At today’s review meeting held at UGC, they said that the country has not yet developed the capacity to take the admissions test with software. Taking the admissions test with this software can create confusion in people’s minds. Most student assessments may not be accurate due to network and technical issues.
According to experts, no country in the world performs large-scale testing with just one piece of software. The committee recommends that UGC formulate a policy if admissions tests will be conducted with the software.
These views were expressed by the chairman of the Bangladesh University Grants Commission, Prof. at a review meeting held in the UGC Auditorium chaired by Kazi Shahidullah.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Rector of Digital University Prof. Munaj Ahmed Noor highlighted various aspects of his invented software ‘Proctured Remote Examination System’. He said the software was originally designed to assess internal university exams. Currently, it is not suitable for taking the online college admissions test.
UGC President Professor at the meeting. Kazi Shahidullah and Professor Dr. Member of the Commission. Dil Afroza Begum virtually joined. In addition to the UGC member professor. Maryland. Sajjad Hossain, teacher. Muhammad Alamgir, Secretary (additional responsibilities) said. Ferdous Zaman, member of the committee, professor of informatics and engineering at Dhaka University. Hafiz Md. Hasan Babu, Professor of Computer Science and Engineering, Bangladesh University of Engineering. Maryland. Experts say that the ‘Proctured Remote Examination System’ software can play a much more effective role than the method used to assess exams for students’ current online courses. According to them, this software can be used to take and assess exams on a small scale in all universities, including Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University. The expert committee considered that further development of the “Remote Examination System Developed” software was needed.
Last week, the UGC took the initiative to seek expert opinion on the software being used in online admissions tests at public universities. Apart from this, UGC has also taken the initiative to take the admission test in the public university in an integrated or cluster system in the current academic year. On November 1, the Minister of Education summoned the vice-chancellors of public universities to take the admission test in an integrated or cluster manner.
