Fifteen Bangladeshi workers living in Singapore have been writing anti-French articles on social media. They have been accused of inciting violence in writing. According to information posted on the Singapore Home Office website, they have already been returned to Bangladesh. There was no word on when they were sent back.
However, Bangladeshi law enforcement agencies say they do not have such information. They are looking for Ahmed Faisal, a Bangladeshi arrested in Singapore on charges of conspiring to attack Bangladesh.
According to the Singapore Ministry of the Interior, Ahmed Faisal’s plan was to attack members of the Hindu community working for the police in Bangladesh from Singapore. Ahmed Faisal also had plans to go to Kashmir to pursue extremist ideology.
Saiful Islam, Deputy Commissioner of the Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, told Kaler Kanth that efforts were being made to find out about Ahmed Faisal.
Singapore’s Interior Ministry said security alerts had been strengthened across Singapore following the recent attack in France. At that time 36 people were investigated. 17 of them have been sent back to the country. All but one are citizens of Bangladesh. Furthermore, Ahmed Faisal, a 26-year-old Bangladeshi construction worker, was arrested on November 2 under the Internal Security Act.
According to the Singapore Ministry of the Interior, the majority of repatriated Bangladeshis worked in the construction sector in Singapore. They have written ‘provocative’ against France through social networks. Singapore authorities are still investigating the seven foreigners.
Singapore’s Interior Ministry said there was no indication that any Singaporean or foreigner under investigation planned to attack or protest in Singapore.
