Protest rallies and torchlight processions demanding Nur’s arrest

Muktijuddha Mancha has organized a protest rally and torchlight procession to demand the arrest of Nurul Haque Nur, former vice president of Daksh, accused of insulting women and harassing journalists.

After a brief demonstration at the foot of the Raju anti-terror sculpture on Wednesday night, the organization’s leaders and workers marched towards Shahbag in a torchlight procession.

Leaders and activists on stage demanded 5 points at the protest rally.

Their demands are:

1. Nurul Haque Nur, charged in the rape case for insulting women and insulting journalists through social media, must be arrested, subjected to the law and punished in an exemplary manner.

2. All defendants in the rape case of Dhaka University students must be arrested immediately.

3. Everyone involved in heinous crimes such as the rape of a depleted uranium student, the rape of a girl by the student front leader, and the sexual harassment of CPB leader Jolly Talukder by the CPB leader should be arrested and receive the maximum punishment in a trial in a court of first instance.

4. The Student Rights Council, accused of violation, should be prohibited by law.

5. In Shahbag, the forces of evil that insulted Bangabandhu, the Prime Minister and the heroic freedom fighters must be identified and brought under the law and given exemplary punishment.

The general secretary of the Central Committee of Muktiyuddha Mancha, Md. Al Mamun, chaired the protest. Other leaders also spoke, including Muktijuddha Mancha, Dhaka University Branch President Sonnet Mahmud, Vice President Kamruzzaman Raju, Shuvro Mahmud and Maqsood Hawladar.
