A proposal was recently sent to the Ministry of Finance to increase the monthly fees of freedom fighters from Tk 12,000 to Tk 20,000 in the current financial year. This information was given at the 14th meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs on Sunday.

The meeting was chaired by Shahjahan Khan, chair of the committee.

The committee recommended that Bangladesh Muktijoddha Welfare Trust provide monthly medical expenses to freedom fighters as needed instead of the existing system.

Previously, a three-member investigative committee was formed with Shajahan Khan as coordinator and Kazi Firoz Rashid and Muslem Uddin Ahmed as members.

The committee at its next meeting recommended the formation of a committee to modernize the body of the trust in addition to establishing a detailed report of previous appointments.

The Minister of Liberation War Affairs, AKM Mozammel Haque, and Kazi Firoz Rashid participated in the meeting.
