The academics want to sit down with the Prime Minister to discuss the sculpture issue. They have decided to send a written proposal to the Prime Minister in this regard. The country’s best academics attended a meeting at the Jatrabari madrassa in the capital on Saturday. Following the meeting, BEFAC Acting Secretary General Maulana Mahfuzul Haque told the media.
He said that eminent academics from all over the country participated in the meeting. 5 proposals have been accepted based on everyone’s opinion. They will be sent to the Prime Minister in the form of a memorandum. At the same time, a delegation led by Mahmudul Hasan will meet with the Prime Minister and other senior government officials.
Maulana Mahfuzul Haque said that the manufacture of human figures or sculptures for any purpose is strictly prohibited in the eyes of Islam. In the country of 92% Muslims, in the light of the faith and conscience of the people, it is better to look for a good alternative backed by the Quran and Sunnah. In response to a question about what alternative thinking is, he said: “Our proposal is to build the Mujib Minar with 99 names of Allah.”
Previously, the meeting was chaired by Allama Mahmudul Hasan, Acting Chairman of BEFAC and Chairman of Hayatul Uliya. Among the leading academics present were Mufti Muhammad Waqqas, Mufti Ruhul Amin, Allama Nurul Islam Jihadi, Allama Abdul Hamid, Allama Abdul Quddus, Allama Ataful Maulana Mahfuzul Haque, Maulana Ubaydur Rahman Khan Nadvi, Mufti Arshad Raeian, Mahulana Raeianmani Mamunul Haque, Mufti Jasimuddin, representative of Allama Junaid Babungari, Maulana Hasan, representative of Allama Nur Hossain Kasemi.
At the beginning of the meeting, Allama Mahmudul Hasan said, it is our religious duty to protect the dignity of Hazrat Muhammad SAAW. It is necessary to close all avenues to insult the Prophet in Arabia. It is also imperative to arrive at a Shariah-compliant solution through academic dialogue with the government on the sculpture issue. An unwanted situation is not conducive to the government, the people, or the academics.
Addressing the government, he said that Keram’s relationship with the state and the government is that of a benevolent adviser. It is the duty of the rulers and officials to try to abide by the words of the Qur’an and Sunnah in the mouth of the scholars. There is no reason for the ulama to regard Keram as an enemy or an adversary. Any misunderstandings or disputes should be resolved through dialogue. In this case, all those responsible must show patience and measure. The conflict is harmful to Islam, the people and the state.
At the end of the meeting, 5 proposals were presented with the consent of all. Are-
1: Islam strictly prohibits the making of sculptures and human figures for any purpose. It is not lawful to pay tribute to a great person or leader by placing idols or sculptures. This causes pain in the soul of the deceased Muslim. Instead of building statues or sculptures to pay tribute to someone and keep their memory alive, it is reasonable to look for an alternative better supported by the Quran and Sunnah in light of the beliefs and consciences of 92% of the people.
2. I strongly condemn insult, humiliation, satirical cartoons, etc. by Nabi Karim SA. Provocative activities to destroy communal harmony in Bangladesh, especially the use of information technology, must be closely monitored for the abusive treatment of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) and the greatest legal action taken against the guilty.
3. Unconditional release of detainees in the religious movement in the past and withdrawal of cases.
4. Although there is no administrative initiative for noise pollution and general noise pollution and loud music for the suffering of people, special instructions under the pretext of noise pollution only with waz-mahfil are not welcome. Waz mahfil should have a chance.
AND 5. We need to stop blaming and irresponsible behaviors against scholars.
