Dhaka: A day after being promoted to undersecretary, the government has promoted 144 officers from the defunct economic cadre as assistant secretaries.
On Wednesday (September 2), the Ministry of Public Administration issued four separate orders promoting these officers to Special Officer in Charge (OSD).
It has been said that the officials promoted as Co-Secretaries will not be entitled to any economic benefit prior to the issuance of the notification in the event of promotion or seniority execution. However, the benefits already received will remain in effect.
On Tuesday (September 1), 220 senior assistant secretaries from the defunct economic cadre were promoted to assistant secretaries. Their promotions have been effective from 2008 to 2018.
Of 220 officers who became undersecretaries, 144 were promoted to the post of deputy secretaries. Their promotions have been effective from February 8, 2012 to June 5, 2020.
To ensure a more dynamic, integrated and people-friendly administration, the government merged the economic framework with the administrative framework on November 13, 2016.
Civil service officials said there were complications with the promotion of officers to this cadre after the economic cadre was merged with the administration cadre. As a result, that complication is being resolved with the ghostly promotion of these officers. The rest will also be promoted in phases.
