According to the circular, the Bangladesh Producers and Distributors Association is a trade organization licensed by the Ministry of Commerce under the Trade Organizations Ordinance 1971. Zayed Khan, owner of ZK Movies and General Secretary of the Association of Film Artists of Bangladesh, has submitted a written complaint to the Ministry of Commerce against the irregularities in the 2019-2021 elections. The ministry formed a committee and assigned an undersecretary to investigate. That investigation has found the truth of Zayed Khan’s accusation.
The investigation clearly showed that four producer leaders, including Khorshed Alam Khasru, president of the association and former president of the producers association, participated in the elections held on July 26 last year by illegally hiding information despite the Court’s ban. The undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Khandaker Nurul Haque, has been appointed administrator to keep the association active.
At the same time, it has been said in the notice that the election will be held within 120 days.
In another circular, the investigative committee found evidence that Zayed Khan, the filmmaker and ZK, had illegally suspended the position of captain from the film. Zayed Khan has been instructed to carry out his normal activities and not interfere with his performance.
The four producers who participated in the election were Khorshed Alam Khosru, Secretary General Shamsul Alam, Montazur Rahman Akbar and the late Sharif Uddin Khan Dipu. According to file 599/2018, they cannot select the Association of Film Producers and Distributors for 2017-2018. It is also noted in the March 20, 2017 order of court case 599/2018 that Khorshed Alam Khasru and Montazur Rahman Akbar served as a committee for 7 years.
According to the rules of the Association of Producers and Distributors, if a person sits on the committee for 6 consecutive years, they will not be able to participate in the elections for the next two years. It has been said in the convocation that he has become president and general secretary in the elections held for disobeying the written compassion order No. 5996 of 2016. Therefore, Khandaker Nurul Haque has been appointed administrator to dissolve this committee and maintain the activities committee functioning normally.
According to the notification, the election of the producers association must be held again within the next 120 days.
Meanwhile, when asked about the dissolution of the committee, the recently deceased general secretary, Shamsul Alam, said: “We have not yet received any letters from the Ministry of Commerce.
