At a BNP head office press conference, the party’s main deputy general secretary, lawyer Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, was explaining the party’s position on various issues and now the party’s organization secretary (Mymensingh division) Syed Emran Saleh Prince will be seen in that role.

When Ruhul Kabir Rizvi fell ill, organizing secretary Prince was asked to temporarily assume additional responsibilities at the central office.

The directive was given in a letter signed by BNP general secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday.

After a heart attack, Rizvi is now receiving treatment at Labaid Hospital in Dhanmondi, Dhaka.

The letter read: “Until he (Rizvi) recovers, you (Syed Emran Saleh Prince) are asked to temporarily take over the BNP headquarters as an additional party responsibility.” Syed Emran Saleh Prince also held a position in the party’s office on Monday.

When asked about this, Syed Emran Saleh Prince told Naya Digant: “It is not a full-blown responsibility, so I do not think it is appropriate to officially inform the media.” As the deputy general secretary of the party, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, is ill, the acting president of the party called me the day before yesterday and today (Monday) the general secretary of the party sent a letter. I met with lawyer Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Bhai, the party’s chief deputy general secretary, with the letter and took office today. Prior to that, Prince served as the party’s central deputy director and co-publicity secretary.
