Prime Minister mourns Mannan Hira’s death

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed her deep sorrow over the death of playwright and director Mannan Hira. The information was delivered in a message of condolence sent from the Prime Minister’s Office on Wednesday.

In her statement of condolence, the Prime Minister said the nation will remember her unique contribution to the country’s dramatic scene, including the street theater movement.

In the message, the Prime Minister prayed for the forgiveness of the deceased’s soul and extended deep condolences to members of his grieving family.

He died of a heart attack at 8:30 pm on Wednesday (December 23) at Islami Bank Hospital in Shahjahanpur, the capital. The death of this great actor has cast a shadow of mourning over Natangan.

Mannan Hira is the current president of Aranyak Natyadal. It was the first president of Bangladesh Natyakar Sangha. As a playwright, he has received an award from the Bangla Academy. Many of his works have captivated television and stage viewers.

He was also an acclaimed producer. Mannan Hira made the movie ‘Ekattarer Khudiram’. Apart from that, he also directed two short films called ‘Hot Rice Story’ and ’71’s Color Pencil’.
