The Pakistani government has long taken steps to preserve the ancestral home of two legendary Bollywood actors, Dilip Kumar and the late Raj Kapoor. This time the price of those two houses was set by the Pakistani government.
These two palatial houses are in a dilapidated state. Last September, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa state government of Pakistan decided to buy the two houses and list them as ‘National Heritage’. Or demolished buildings have been ordered to be demolished more than once. This time the government home buying process began.
Dilip Kumar’s 1,089 square foot house is priced at Rs 60.56 lakh. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government has promised to purchase Raj Kapoor’s 1,833.5-square-foot home for Rs 1.5 lakh. According to news sources, Peshawar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ali Azghar has been tasked with fixing the price.
Raj Kapoor’s house is called there ‘Kapoor Haveli’. The house was built by the actor’s grandfather between 1918 and 1922. Raj Kapoor was born in that house in Kissa Khoyani Bazar, the heart of Peshawar.
