Pranab commemoration in Narail

Narail Deputy Commissioner and Police Superintendent lay flowers on portrait of Indian President Pranab Mukherjee in Narail.

Former Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, popularly known as ‘Jamaibabu’ of Narail, died in Chachra-Tularampur in Sadar upazila on Wednesday.

The tributes and commemorations were held at noon. The memorial service was organized by the Shuvra Mukherjee Foundation, named after Shuvra Mukherjee, daughter of Pranab Mukherjee’s late wife, Narail.

Narail Deputy Commissioner Anjuman Ara was present as keynote guest at the meeting chaired by Shuvra Mukherjee Foundation Trustee Kartik Ghosh. The Police Superintendent was present as a special guest. Jasim Uddin, Salma Selim, Executive Director of Narail Sadar Upazila, and President of Tularampur Union Parishad. Bulbul Ahmed.

Among others present were the councilor of the Narail municipality, Mahbub Alam, the director of the SM Sultan Art College, Anadi Kumar Bairagi, the former commissioner Ashok Kundu, the deputy general secretary of the Shuvra Mukherjee Foundation, Tapan Pal Chowdhury, the former vice president of the Club of Narail Press, Sultan Mahmud, Shuvra Mukherjee.

Following the tribute, Deputy Commissioner and Police Superintendent Shuvra Mukherjee signed the foundation’s book of condolences.

Speakers at the commemoration said the former President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, was a true friend of Bangladesh. He was very close to the people of Narail. He expressed his strong support for the great war of independence of Bangladesh. The people of Bangladesh will always remember their love for the people of Bangladesh.
