The police have attacked a national gathering of Juba Dal in Nabinagar upazila of Brahmanbaria. They beat and shot leaders and activists. Juba Dal leaders and activists clashed with the police at that time. The incident took place at the home of the Aliabad Madan member in the municipal city of Nabinagar on Friday afternoon.

The district BNP claimed that at least 25 leaders and activists were injured in beatings and police shootings. The injured have been treated at several private hospitals, including the Sadar District Hospital.

Among the injured leaders were Zakir Hossain Siddiqui, Vice Chairman of the Juba Dal Central Committee, Shamim Mollah, Juba Dal District Chairman, Rashedul Haque Rashed, Vice Chairman, Tajul Islam Babul and Yasin Mahmud, Secretary General.

According to sources in Juba Dal, an organizational meeting of the Upazila Juba Dal was held at the home of the Aliabad Madan member in the afternoon. At that moment, a large number of police officers came to the house, brutally beat them and shot them. At least 25 leaders and activists were injured.

Upon hearing the news, the district’s BNP president, Hafizur Rahman Mollah Kachi, and other leaders rushed to the hospital to see the injured. At the time, Hafizur Rahman Mollah complained: “The police suddenly attacked our leaders and activists. At that time, 25 leaders and activists were injured when they were attacked with batons.

In this regard, Nabinagar Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Ruhul Amin said: “Although they don’t have any permission to hold a meeting, they keep it at home. When the police arrived, they dispersed. The police fired several rounds of rubber bullets to control the situation.
