Dhaka: Former Deputy Speaker of the Central Student Parliament of Dhaka University (Daksu) Nurul Haque Nur has said that police cannot determine whether the battery-powered rickshaw will work on the road or not.
He made the remarks in a human chain organized in front of the National Press Club on Tuesday (November 3) at noon to protest the illegal declaration of battery rickshaws and the eviction campaign of the municipal corporation.

Nur said the rickshaw worker brothers have gone to many. No one supported them. Many have cheated money from them. The Lalbagh traffic zone took money from them. Receipt delivered. If motorized rickshaws are illegal, in what process did they take the money?
Criticizing the administration and political leaders, he said: “I know that each bus parked in front of Jagannath University is charged 100 to 300 rupees per night.” There are police agencies there, they should know, the leaders of the political parties and governors there know where the money goes or to whom. The statistics and the reality are that greedy political party leaders and dishonest administration officials are doing this kind of extortion by sucking the blood of workers.
Nur told the agitated rickshaw pullers to go to city hall and tell the mayor about their demands. You two or one will not go. Make a delegation of five or six people and go to meet the mayor. And the rest of the rickshaw shooters will stand in front of the city building and realize your demand.
