A young man named Sourav Barua (25) was captured by the Detective Branch (DB) police while selling a revolver in Chittagong. He reported to the police after he was caught working as a police officer in the Chittagong Industrial Police.

According to sources from the city’s detective police, the young man named Sourav Barua was arrested in front of the Kotwali Police Station District Council Market on Friday night on the basis of secret information. He was standing in the area with a revolver for sale. The weapon was recovered from him.
After filing a case at the Kotwali Police Station, he was sent to jail through the court.
A senior city detective police official, who did not want to be identified, told Jugantar on Saturday night: “We have heard that Sourav Barua, who was arrested with a weapon, is an industrial police officer.” He told us in preliminary questioning that he is a member of the industrial police. However, we are still not sure. Because the industrial police have not yet confirmed anything about his identity.
Kotwali Police Station OC Mohammad Mohsin said detectives arrested a man named Sourav Barua with a revolver and handed him over to us. SI Billal Hossain’s Southern Intelligence Department has filed a case against him. However, nowhere in the case statement is he mentioned as a police officer.
