According to the police and local sources, Nazmul Islam, a disabled man from the Mustafi area of Lalmonirhat, lived in a rented house in Idgahpara in Ashratpur. He used to rent a battery powered rickshaw because he had leg problems. The rickshaw belonged to Gaibandha resident Rangpur Police Training Center police officer Hasan Ali.
