Police arrested 50-year-old poet and filmmaker Token Tagore. There was an arrest warrant in a case against him.
He was arrested around 8:30 pm on Sunday (October 25) in the Kantaban area below the Newmarket police station in the capital.
Newmarket Police Station Officer-in-Charge (CO) Sam Qayyum confirmed the matter to banglanews. He said there was an arrest warrant in a case filed in CMM court against Token Tagore. We arrested him from the Kantaban area by order of the court. It will be presented in court on Monday (October 26).
According to police sources, he was detained on the basis of an arrest warrant issued by the Dhaka Metropolitan Court (CMM Court) on 3 October. Poet and producer Token Tagore received a grant from the government to make a film called ‘Kanta’ in the 2012-13 financial year. But the Information Ministry filed a lawsuit against him in 2016 for failing to make and release the film on time.
