Emphasizing the preservation of all the world’s languages, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that her government has created the International Mother Language Institute to preserve the world’s lost languages. He added: “I have created the International Mother Language Institute to protect language rights, respect languages and preserve the lost languages of the world.” The language museum has been made here. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina made the remarks when opening a four-day program organized by the International Mother Language Institute on the occasion of the Day of the Great Martyrs and International Mother Language Day. He was virtually connected to the Ganobhaban International Mother Language Institute via video conference on Sunday afternoon.
Sheikh Hasina said that about the International Mother Language Institute, arrangements have been made to study the language, collect the history of the language and provide opportunities to those who will do education and research in this regard.
He said: ‘Ekushey February is ours, we have written the language with blood. That is why we have taken this step so that other languages are not lost, so that their existence is revealed. That is why I think it is a respectable institution for Bangladesh. He also thanked UNESCO for promoting the organization to the second category.
The Prime Minister said: “We have to learn our mother tongue as well as other languages in the field of international communication, preserving our history and heritage.” At the same time, we have to preserve the language of the small ethnic group ”.
He said that if the language of small ethnic groups is preserved, they will be able to learn in that language.
In recognition of linguistic research, the government has introduced the ‘International National Mother Language Medal-2021’ and the ‘International Mother Language International Medal-2021’ starting this year at the national and international level. This award will be awarded every two years.
Rafiqul Islam, a distinguished national professor, researcher and author, and Mathura Bikash Tripura, Executive Director of the Khagrachhari Jabrang Welfare Association, were awarded the ‘International National Mother Language Medal-2021’ for the first time in recognition of the expansion of activities and development of various mother tongues in Bangladesh.
Ismailov Gulam Mir Zayaliz from Uzbekistan and Activismmo Linguan, an online organization based in Bolivia, received the International Mother Language International Medal-2021.
