In recognition of linguistic research, the government has introduced the ‘International National Mother Language Medal-2021’ and the ‘International Mother Language International Medal-2021’ starting this year at the national and international level. This award will be awarded every two years.

Rafiqul Islam, a distinguished national professor, researcher and author, and Mathura Bikash Tripura, Executive Director of the Khagrachhari Jabrang Welfare Association, were awarded the ‘International National Mother Language Medal-2021’ for the first time in recognition of the expansion of activities and development of various mother tongues in Bangladesh.

Ismailov Gulam Mir Zayaliz from Uzbekistan and Activismmo Linguan, an online organization based in Bolivia, received the International Mother Language International Medal-2021.
