A court sentenced the plaintiff Munnujan Bibi to five years in prison for filing a false rape case in the village of Joypurhat Sadar upazila in Bishnapur. Tuesday (October 6) afternoon, the judge of the Court for the Suppression of Abuse of Women and Children of Joypurhat. Rustam Ali gave the verdict. State prosecutor PP Nripendranath Mandal confirmed the matter.
The convict is the wife of Rabiul Islam from the village of Bishnapur in Munnujan Bibi upazila.
According to the summary of the case, on February 1, four young men, including Maruf from the village of Bishnapur, picked up the eighth-grade girl and raped her while on her way to the madrasa.
The following day, the student’s mother, Munnujan Bibi, presented a case to the Joypurhat Women and Children Abuse Suppression Court, which took notice of the case and ordered the police to investigate.
At one point during the court’s cross-examination of the lawyers and the questioning of the plaintiffs and witnesses, it emerged that a false rape case had been presented due to previous hostilities.
The court sentenced the plaintiff Munnujan Bibi to five years in prison and acquitted the defendants, including Maruf Hossain, of bringing such a bogus rape case.
