Two tourists were killed Sunday when a picnic collided with a power pole on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway in Islamabad. Another 18 people were injured in the incident. However, the names of the victims are unknown.
Mohammad Abdul Halim, in charge of the Eidgaon Police Investigation Center, said a Cox’s Bazar passenger bus named Nilachal Paribahan lost control and collided with a utility pole on the side of the road at around 8:30 a.m. . Two people were killed and 17 passengers were injured at the scene. The bus was coming from Noakhali to Cox’s Bazar.
The police and residents of the Eidgaon Research Center rescued the injured and took them to different hospitals. He said the condition of many of the injured was also critical.
Tareq Aziz, a student at Noakhali Chatkhil Sampara College, a passenger on the bus, said that everyone in the car was in Noakhali.
Former student of Sahapur multipurpose high school in Chatkhil upazila district. They all went to Cox’s Bazar. The accident occurred when the driver from Nilachal Paribahan was driving drowsy.
