Perth Chandra Dev from Bangladesh has made a place in the Guinness Book of World Records by making the world’s largest chain with a gold-colored safety pin. On September 17 the certificate of appreciation arrived in the mail. With this, he broke the record set by Harsha Nan and Nava from India in 2016.
On April 20 last year, Perth applied for the Guinness Book of World Records for creating the longest chain of safety pins. After obtaining the permit, Perth has been making safety pin chains for 45 consecutive days since July 23 last year. The length of this chain is 2,401.63 meters or 6,060 feet 2 inches. The chain was measured at the local Sri Sri Pagal Shankar Mandir (located in Nasirnagar upazila of Brahmanbaria).
Perth Chandra Dev, the youngest son of the late Jagadish Dev from the village of Fandauk in the union of Fandauk, a remote area of Nasirnagar upazila of Brahmanbaria. He is a final year BSS student (Degree) at Brahmanbaria Government College. In addition, he is studying at the Department of Tirtha and Smriti Tirtha (Early) Grammar of Sangved Sanskriti College, Habiganj. In addition to his studies, he helped his older brother in his father’s business in Perth Fandauk Bazaar.
Perth said he looked at the Guinness world records. On April 23, 2016, Hersha Nan and Nava Nan from India jointly set the record for the longest chain with a safety pin. The length of its chain was 1,633.1 meters. So I plan to make the largest chain in the store out of a small 2cm gold colored safety pin. I registered with Guinness World Records in 2019. I applied on April 20 of that year. On July 19 of last year, the Guinness World Records authorities gave me permission and advice to make the chain.
Perth said it had produced at least 14 types of documents, including two witnesses and a surveyor. I started working on July 23 last year. I bought 1 lakh 8,623 gold-size two-centimeter gold safety pins for 13,360 rupees and started making chains.
He said, I work continuously from 11am to 4pm every day. It takes 241 hours and 42 minutes.
