The Secretary General of the Awami League and the Minister of Road Transport and Bridges, Obaidul Quader, gave instructions on the matter in the Secretariat on Tuesday (December 6).

At a briefing, he said: ‘Many people build Bangabandhu sculptures in different parts of the country. That’s out of love and respect for him. But some of the sculptures do not match the image of Bangabandhu. Sometimes there are design flaws. Therefore, I ask everyone to refrain from building sculptures without the permission of the Bangabandhu Trust.

Obaidul Quader claimed that there have been many conspiracies in the past about Bangabandhu and his family and the liberation war. He said: ‘Now all of a sudden there is an attempt to create instability in the country with the sculpture of Bangabandhu. However, in the public interest, they will be repressed with a heavy hand.

The leader of the Awami League said: “Insulting the sculpture of Bangabandhu is a blow to the hearts of millions of Bengalis who believe in the spirit of the liberation war. The liberation war of this country and the reactionaries’ challenge towards achievement. Behind the scenes, there will also be those who provide support and money. No communal group will be allowed to sustain itself in this country that has been acquired with the blood of millions of martyrs. It is also investigated whether there is any national or foreign political conspiracy on the subject of sculpture.

The general secretary of the Awami League said: ‘Extremist communal groups are using religion to carry out anti-liberation activities. And by supporting him, BNP has clarified its position. To prove that BNPE is the patron of the anti-liberation war. All substrategies will be discussed politically with the people. So everyone has to be united. ‘

In response to the BNP secretary general’s allegation that the government has turned the Electoral Commission into a party body, the Awami League secretary general said: “It is baseless and has a purpose.” In fact, the BNP is being rejected by the people and blames the Electoral Commission for the failure. Those who question the electoral system and the Electoral Commission by not going to the polls on election day, their intent is clear to the people.
