Dhaka: DHAKA: All passenger trains have been suspended since Monday (April 5) due to the deteriorating epidemic situation. Starting Monday (April 5), all passenger trains will be closed for the next seven days.
However, freight trains will operate.
Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan confirmed the matter on Saturday (April 3). Furthermore, the closure of passenger trains has also been reported on the Bangladesh Railway Facebook page.
As mentioned in the post, all passenger train services will be closed until further notice. During this time only freight trains will run.
Passengers who have already purchased train tickets for April 5 and later at the counter or online are requested to return the tickets from the counter and collect the money.
Earlier, the Additional Director General (Operations) of the Bangladesh Railway, Sardar Shahadat Ali, confirmed the information to banglanews on Saturday night.
Meanwhile, State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain said the government would impose a nationwide lockdown for a week in the next two to three days due to increased corona virus infection.
