Panic over the decision to shut down DIS-Internet!

Dhaka: The organization of Internet and cable service providers has announced that it will disconnect the pendant cable without giving it a chance to expand underground. Such a decision has caused panic in all sectors, starting with ordinary people.

Government officials themselves are also concerned about private sector entrepreneurs such as information technology and e-commerce.

Recently, two corporations in the city of Dhaka began to cut the hanging cable of the disk cable and the fiber optic cable of the capital’s Internet. Coab, an organization of dissolved cable operators, and ISPAB, an organization of merchants that provide Internet connection services, cut the cable without allowing it to expand underground. In protest, the two organizations announced a three-hour disconnect from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every day, starting Sunday (October 18), in protest of their court.

The decision was announced by the two organizations at a press conference held at the National Press Club on Monday (October 12). In this, ISPAB Chairman MA Hakim said that ISPAB and Coab have already lost an estimated Rs 20 crore Tk due to the cut without any alternative measure. Journalists from 33 television channels, more than a lakh of employees and a thousand ISPAB and CoAB members are at risk of losing their jobs due to lack of Internet connection.

The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) is also in a firm position in this roar of organizations. Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has made a political decision not to cut it until it expands underground after meeting with ISPAB operators, Coab and NTTN. However, their removal is still ongoing by the DSCC.

Meanwhile, Internet and cable service users are also panicking at the cost of such chaos. They fear that Internet-based communications will be cut off from home.

Samsun Nahar, a housewife from the Mirpur area of the capital, said: “We are being euthanized on this fence for lack of coordination.” Girls class, all exams are on the internet. For this, the broadband connection is the only hope. Mobile Internet is not available and the network speed is not stable. Or the plate will turn off again. Customers will not get the service even if we spend money. The opposite is suffering.

Aside from consumers, there is fear of a negative impact on the business sector across the country. Didarul Alam Sunny, Director of BASIS, a leading organization in the information technology sector, said that the decision to build a digital Bangladesh is a major obstacle to realizing Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s dream. However, your decision to call such a strike is also logical. What would you do if it were cut without the option to extend it?

‘The break machine (point of sale) of a store also works on the Internet. It will have an adverse effect even at the grassroots level. We are already in contact with those interested to find a solution. ‘

Touhid Hossain, general secretary of the BPO organization, says that the image of Bangladesh will be tarnished internationally if the Internet connection is disconnected.

“We will suffer a lot if the internet connection is disconnected,” he said. If we cannot provide the service, foreign customers may turn away from us. It is no longer a submarine cable problem that is occurring around the world. The message will reach foreign businessmen that this is happening due to the tense relations between the government and businessmen in this country.

However, the tech entrepreneur expects the problem to be resolved by Saturday (October 18). He also said that if there is no solution in the talks, the organization will deliver a letter together with the Prime Minister.

The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications himself fears that it will have a negative impact on both the private and public sectors. Mustafa Jabbar told banglanews that even a while ago he was talking to ISPAB to withdraw that decision. But they said the South City Corporation cut them yesterday too. In such a situation, their backs are glued to the wall. The answer came in a situation of discussion. But the South City Corporation doesn’t listen to them. So what else will these merchants do? We are also concerned with the conduct of government activities. The files are executed through electronic documents. Then there will be problems. Many media will be damaged if the DIS connection is closed.

However, Mustafa Jabbar said he would continue discussions with stakeholders. “I’ll talk to everyone at the end,” he said. Coab, I’ll tell ISPAB what else can be done without disconnecting. Let’s see the rest.
