On Thursday morning, the 41st, i.e. the last span, was placed on piers 12 and 13 of the bridge at the Mawa end of Munshiganj. The section was installed six days after the installation of the 40th section. The infrastructure of the 6,150 meter bridge is now visible with the installation of a 150 meter long span. Meanwhile, Pakistan congratulated Bangladesh on the success of the Padma Bridge construction works.
Today, Friday, Pakistan congratulated on this progress. The congratulations were broadcast on his behalf from the verified Facebook page of the High Commissioner of Dhaka. It read: “Congratulations to Bangladesh on the construction of the Padma Bridge.”
Note that construction works for the Padma Bridge started in December 2014. The Padma Bridge began to be visible on September 30, 2016 with the installation of the first span on posts 36 and 37. After that, they were placed 40 spans one by one. It is visible 6 kilometers from the bridge. The 6.15 km long Padma Bridge is being built by placing 41 spans of 150 m in length in 42 piers.
China Major Bridge Engineering Company (MBEC), a Chinese contractor, is working to build the main bridge, and Sinohydro Corporation, another Chinese company, is working on governance of the river. Abdul Momen Limited from Bangladesh has built two roads and connecting infrastructure.
