At least six people were killed in the shelling by Pakistani troops on the border with Kashmir.

Among the dead were at least four members of the Indian army and three civilians, according to the Indian media NDTV.

The casualties occurred on Friday when Pakistan shelled various areas of the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector from Gurez in India-controlled Jammu and Kashmir.

Several other Indian soldiers and civilians were reportedly injured in the shelling.

Citing Indian officials, NDTV reported that three Indian soldiers were killed in the Nambala sector of Uri. Pakistani troops have used mortars and other weapons in the area in violation of the ceasefire since Friday morning. One member of the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) was killed and another wounded in a bombing raid by Pakistani forces in the Haji Pir sector of Uri.

Indian officials have claimed that two more civilians were killed in the Kamalkot sector of Uri in the Barmulla district of Jammu and Kashmir and a woman was killed in Balkot in the Haji Pir area.

India has also retaliated against Pak’s military attack.

The Indian Army and the BSF responded to the Pak attack.

According to the Indian news agency ANI, Indian military sources claimed that between 7 and 8 Pak soldiers were killed and several more were injured in the counterattack. The Indian bombardment damaged Pak’s military bunkers, fuel depots and launch pads.
