Padma Bridge set 3 world records

The Padma Bridge, once a dream, is now in sight. Long rows of pillars can be seen on the banks of the Padma. 41 steel openings placed one above the other. The last span of the Padma Bridge was laid on Thursday (December 12). The 6,150 meter long bridge is fully visible through it.

So far, the Padma Bridge has set three world records for the completion of the work. One is the piloting of the Padma bridge. Concerned engineers say steel piles have been placed to a maximum depth of 122 meters under the piers of the Padma Bridge. These piles have a radius of three meters. No bridge in the world has ever been built with such deep and thick piles.

The second record is that ‘friction pendulum bearings’ have been installed to vaccinate the Padma Bridge from earthquakes. The load capacity is 10 thousand tons. Until now, no bridge in the world has been equipped with bearings of such capacity. The Padma Bridge will be able to withstand earthquakes of magnitude 9 on the Richter scale.

And the third record is the governance of rivers. A কোটি 1.10 billion contract has been signed with the Chinese contractor Sinohydro Corporation for river management. Never before in the world has there been such a large tender only in the governance of rivers. In addition, very fine (microfine) cement has been used in piles and some parts of posts on the Padma Bridge. These cements have been brought from Australia. This ultra-fine cement is not commonly used.
