In Noakhali, Police Superintendent Mohammad Alamgir Hossain ordered the arrest of those responsible for the incident in which a housewife was stripped and kicked in the face and posted a video of the beating on Facebook. There are allegations that five youths, including Delwar, Badal, Kalam and Abdur Rahim, the head of Delwar Bahini, committed the incident near Barkhal in Eklashpur Union District 9 in Noakhali’s Begumganj Upazila. Begumganj police arrested a young man named Abdur Rahim (22) on Sunday (October 4). Five police units have launched an operation to catch the remaining defendants.
According to various sources, the incident took place 20/25 days ago in a house in the Khalpar area. However, the video went viral on social media Facebook on Sunday afternoon.
As seen in the video, the housewife is doing everything possible to protect herself. But the perpetrators took off her clothes and started saying something. She desperately tried to defend herself. At one point, the attackers called the teens ‘parents’ and grabbed them by the legs. Even then, they did not stop recording videos. Instead, a young man kicked her in the face several times and kicked her. Then he started hitting her with a stick. At that time, another person shouted ‘Facebook’, ‘Facebook’ expressing their joy that the incident was spread on Facebook.
Begumganj police said the video came to the attention of the district police superintendent, Mohammad Alamgir Hossain, after it went viral. He then ordered the officer in charge of the Begumganj Model Police Station to take immediate action.
Police sources further said that the victim was rescued by police from her father’s home at night. He told police that the video was taken 20/25 days ago.
The officer in charge of the Begumganj Model Police Station, Harun Aur Rashid Chowdhury, said Abdur Rahim involved in the incident was arrested. The operation to arrest others continues.
