A 20-year-old nurse has been charged with gang rape in the Ashutia area of Shibpur upazila in Narsingdi. The defendant also recorded video footage of the incident. Police arrested a man Thursday in connection with the incident Tuesday night.
Meanwhile, her stepfather has been arrested for attempting to rape a teenage girl in Rajbari’s Goalanda. A case has been filed in Madan of Netrokona for ‘raping’ the younger sister for not marrying her older sister.
The victim nurse’s father filed a case with the Shibpur Model Police Station on Wednesday evening, naming two people and charging two unidentified people. The two defendants are Harun Bhuiyan, 20, the son of Tara Bhuiyan from the Majlishpur area of Shibpur, and Monir Bhuiyan, 20, the son of Commander Matin from the same area. Monir has been arrested.
According to the victim’s family and police, the victim was a nurse at a hospital in Narsingdi. He lives in Narsingdi because of his job. Last Tuesday morning, her father and younger sister went to visit a relative’s home in a nearby town. In the evening, the defendant Harun Bhuiyan called the girl from his used mobile phone and told her that there was a little problem with her (young) younger sister, so she should come quickly. He then called his younger sister’s number, but was unable to reach her and went home at night. Arrived in Majlishpur around 10:15 pm. At that time, another defendant, Monir Bhuiyan, told him to take him to his younger sister and take him to a kalaksheta in Ashutia. There, the defendants Harun, Monir and two unidentified persons raped and videotaped him. Later, when the two unidentified people left, Harun and Monir informed the girl’s relatives by phone that the girl was in a coma and sick. Relatives and younger sisters rushed him home from the scene.
Shibpur OC Mollah Azizur Rahman model police station said that the arrested Monir Bhuiyan had admitted his involvement in the rape case. The operation is underway to arrest the remaining defendants.
The defendant’s house (48) in Goalanda is located in Goalanda Township. The mother of the 14-year-old schoolgirl filed a lawsuit against her husband at the Goalanda Ghat Police Station under the Prevention of Abuse of Women and Children Act. Police officer OC Mohammad Abdullah Al Taybi said the victim was sent to Rajbari Sadar Hospital for a medical examination and the arrested person was sent to court.
Zakim Mia, 22, the son of Samuj Ali from Rudrashree village in the Fatehpur junction of Madan upazila, was charged by the girl’s father at Madan Police Station on Wednesday night. The girl was sent to Netrokona Modern Sadar Hospital yesterday for a medical examination. The Madan OC Masuduzzaman Police Station said efforts were being made to arrest the defendants.
