Police arrested Saiful Islam, the second defendant in a case of organized rape of a housewife in Nabiganj de Habiganj. He was arrested in the village of Minhajpur in upazila on Tuesday night (September 6).
A police team led by OC (Investigation) Uttam Kumar Das, the investigating officer in the case, conducted a raid and arrested him. The one arrested is Saiful Alampur’s son, Sadiq Miah, and a local GNC driver. The police are questioning him at the Nabiganj Police Station at night.
It was alleged in the case that he was going to Majlispur in Nabiganj from Sherpur by CNG on Sunday evening. At that time, the housewife was taken to different places with her hands, feet and face tied and raped by the GNC workers throughout the night. Later, they were taken to an abandoned building of Auskandi Union Parishad and gang-raped during the night. Later in the morning, CNG sent him to his relative’s home.
Upon receiving the news, two police teams led by ASP Parvez Alam Chowdhury from the Nabiganj-Bahubal Circle arrived at the scene and rescued the victim of a housewife. The complaining housewife filed a lawsuit against three people at the Nabiganj Police Station on Tuesday morning.
