A 25-year-old female non-governmental organization (NGO) worker was gang-raped at Fakirhat in Bagerhat. Four young men entered the house after cutting the tin rice on the veranda and tortured him. Not only that, he also recorded the torture scene on his mobile phone. He looted ornaments of gold and money. The incident took place last night at the rented house of an NGO worker in the Upazila union in Lokpur. The police arrested one of the accused Mamun Sheikh (30) after pursuing him at night.

In five more districts, three people have been charged with rape and three children with attempted rape. In addition, a fourth-year student who was raped gave birth to a boy in Lalmonirhat’s Patgram. The court has referred the main defendant and his five accomplices in connection with the rape of a girl in Jagannathpur in Sunamganj and the beating of her father. Bagerhat: Police said the four abusers were truck drivers, construction workers and farm workers. The victim filed a case against four people at the Fakirhat police station on Sunday. The accused are the van driver Mamun Sheikh, son of Sher Ali Sheikh from Fakirhat upazila village of Zaria Maitkumra, Firoz Nikari, 29, son of Siraj Nikari from Chhota Khajura village of the same upazila, Raju (25) and Musa (29) from the same village. In the afternoon, the victim underwent a medical examination at the Bagerhat Sadar Hospital. Bagerhat’s civil surgeon KM Humayun Kabir said the test report will be delivered in a day or two.

Rangpur (Regional): A student was called by her mother and brought home by a young man from the same area. But the student did not find her mother there. Later, the young man was accused of raping her in a room in the house. The incident took place at Baluavata Adarshpara in Rangpur’s Badarganj upazila last Saturday night. During the night, the boy was taken to the police station by his father and the accused young man was detained by the police. The arrested Raihan Haque (25) is the son of Hanifullah Haque, a businessman from Baluavata Adarshpara in the municipality. The boy has been sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for a medical check-up. “My son has been framed as planned,” said Raihan’s mother, Argina Khatun. Badarganj Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Ariful Haque said the defendant has been arrested for the girl’s statement. The defendant was sent to jail yesterday.

Jhenaidah: A case was brought against a young man named Nayan Islam Shashi (24) in Shailkupa Upazila on Saturday night for allegedly trying to rape a four-year-old boy by showing him greed. The boy’s mother presented the case at the Shailkupa Police Station. Nayan’s house is in the Upazila village of Harihara.

Naogaon: Police arrested 20-year-old Kamruzzaman at the Dhaka bus stop on Saturday night for allegedly trying to rape a girl with speech problems (13) a few days ago in Patnitala. The girl’s mother presented a case in this regard.

Patgram: A fourth grader (12) from Burimari Union in Patgram upazila de Lalmonir who has given birth to a child by caesarean section as there is a risk of normal delivery. The surgery was performed on October 5 at the Rose Private Clinic in Rangpur.

Sunamganj: A court has held Shamim Ahmed, the main defendant in the Jagannathpur incident, for seven days and his five accomplices for one day. Judge Shubhdeep Pal of Sunamganj District Judges Court, Jagannathpur, approved the order yesterday.

Dhunat (Bogra): The DNA test of the only defendant (17) in the case of a disabled pregnant girl was completed in Dhunat Upazila on January 25.

Madan (Netrokona): Zakaria, 26, the main defendant in Madan’s rape case in Netrokona, was arrested at his home on Saturday night. He is the son of Chabed Ali from Bagjan village in Upazila.
