Foreign Secretary Masood bin Momen made the remarks after a meeting with the new High Commissioner of India, Vikram Kumar Doraiswamy, in Dhaka on Tuesday.
“We have been very close to launching ‘Air Bubble’,” he told reporters. “We have made some requests, they have responded positively.”
Masood bin Momen said other authorities, including civil aviation, are finishing the job of blowing up “air bubbles.”
When two countries establish air communications with each other in special arrangements during regular flight stops in special circumstances, it is called an “air bubble”.
Who can get in and out of this special system is decided through discussions between the two countries.
India now operates “air bubbles” with Bhutan, Maldives, Afghanistan, as well as the Middle East, Europe and the United States-Canada.

Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Sringla visited Dhaka last August to launch an ‘air bubble’ for the convenience of Indian nationals working in the private sector of Bangladesh and patients seeking treatment in Indian hospitals. .
Following the proposal, several agencies in the two countries are working on the launch process for this special flight.
Foreign Secretary Masood told reporters that India was offering three assistants instead of one with medical patients.
“An assistant can now go to a medical patient,” he said. We request that two assistants accompany a patient. At such request, India has allowed 3 assistants to accompany him. “
