Dhaka: Suddenly, India has announced that it will stop exporting onions to Bangladesh. And after the news spread in the retail market, the price of this product, essential for cooking overnight, has risen.
Domestic onions are sold at a price of Rs 95-100 per kg, with an increase from Rs 25-30 per kg in just one day. Buyers and sellers have expressed anger at the high price of onion. They say that the price of onion has risen due to the market crisis.
On Tuesday (September 15) these images appeared in different markets of the capital.
It can be seen on the spot that local onions are sold for Rs 98-100 per kg in Rampura, Malibagh, Malibagh Railgate Bazar, Shantinagar, Segundobagicha, Fakirapul, Motijheel T&T Colony Bazar and Khilgaon Raw Bazaar. Kg. But two days ago, these onions were selling for Rs 60 per kg and the small onions were selling for Rs 60 to 65.
On the other hand, the price of imported Indian onion in a single day has risen to Rs 30 per kg. At present, imported onions are sold in these markets at Rs 60 / kg.
Although the collection of spicy products has increased by Rs 10 per kg, the prices of garlic and green chili peppers have remained unchanged. Currently, ginger sells for Rs 240-250 per kg, garlic Rs 90-100, and green chilies for Rs 160-160 per kg.
Buyers have expressed anger at rising pepper prices. Hamida, a buyer from Rampura Bazar, said: “Although India has promised to stop exports of onions, there are older onions on the market. How does the price of onion increase in one day? Traders are raising prices by syndication as before. The campaign must be officially carried out. ‘
However, the Khilgaon market seller disagreed with the buyer. He said: “There is an onion crisis in the market and the announcement came to stop the export of onion from India. This has affected the market. ‘
