He said the Asrayan project under the Prime Minister’s Office is rehabilitating 3,615 families by building 643 barracks in 44 projects in 36 districts and 21 upazilas during the Mujib Year celebrations.

Dr. Kaikaus added that the Asrayan-2 project has set itself the goal of rehabilitating 250,000 landless and homeless families and uprooted families at a cost of Tk 4,640.26 crore (July 2010 to June 2022). From July 2010 to June 2019, a lakh 92,228 landless and homeless families have already been rehabilitated across the country. So far, a total of 48,500 landless and homeless families have been rehabilitated in the barracks. One lakh 43 thousand 6 families each have from one to 10 percent of land. According to sources, the government has built 20 five-story buildings for 600 families in Khurushkul, Cox’s Bazar, as a gift from the prime minister due to climate change. Training on awareness raising, skills acquisition and human resource development is being provided for members of rehabilitated families to participate in income-generating activities.
